What started as a dream, literally, became a reality with strategic planning, branding, and funding support. We built Senna's business from the ground up, from securing a $2,500 artist grant to structuring a sustainable business plan. Every design element, from the logo to the website, was drawn from her vision of transformation, resilience, and craft.
Overview
Remedy Rising is a botanical garment brand I co-created with artist and herbalist Senna Flora, a long-time friend and single mother aiming to build soul-rooted income through her art. The project emerged as both a creative healing process and a viable business model, centered around screen-printed herbal illustrations derived from her extensive plant knowledge across U.S. ecosystems.
Discovery & Strategy
Our collaboration began with an in-depth visioning session focused on realistic business goals. As a survivor of domestic abuse and a working mom, Senna needed a flexible and sustainable structure, one that honored her artistic spirit without overextending her time or energy. We identified consignment sales and direct-to-community outreach as primary strategies, allowing her to focus on the artwork and printing process while building momentum through trusted networks.
Pitch Deck & Grant Acquisition
After articulating the brand's vision and community impact through a detailed pitch deck, we submitted a grant proposal tailored to a local Arizona arts fund. Remedy Rising was awarded $2,500 in startup capital, which funded its first inventory run of organic, U.S.-made cotton garments. I managed wholesale account applications, strategic sizing breakdowns, and ethical sourcing aligned with Senna's values.
Brand Identity & Visual Design
The visual identity was born from a powerful dream Senna had: a raven flying across a desert sunset with a snake in its mouth, a symbol of rebirth, resilience, and self-sovereignty. That image became the foundation for the logo, while her desert photography inspired a brand palette of warm mauve, dusk pink, and bright chestnut. Typography was carefully selected to reflect the delicate precision of her botanical drawings.
Website & Systems Design
We chose Wix for its robust inventory management system and mobile accessibility, essential for a single-operator model. I built the full site, structured product categories, connected mobile app syncing, and ensured the backend was intuitive enough for self-management. I also supported the setup of her business infrastructure: filing for LLC, business insurance, a dedicated bank account, and basic accounting tools.
Impact
Remedy Rising is now stocked in 6+ consignment shops from Arizona to Michigan and North Carolina. While still a side income stream, it remains a meaningful channel of empowerment, artistry, and contribution. The brand speaks to what can happen when intentional strategy meets lived experience, and proves that success doesn't have to mean scale, sometimes it's about sustainability.
